HSB Skåne and Skanska develop the sustainable housing of the future

HSB Skåne has chosen to work closely with Skanska to build Living Lab Lund, HSB Skåne Future in Brunnshög, a residence where people's everyday lives are at the center of the development of tomorrow's homes.

The initiative will be a unique testing and research environment where residents try out innovative solutions in their everyday lives and contribute to learning and development throughout the industry and the sustainable housing projects of the future.
Here, people, academia and business come together in a joint effort to help each other create sustainable living environments that contribute to both increased quality of life and reduced climate impact.
The project includes both rental apartments, condominiums and shared spaces designed to promote community, security and social cohesion. The building, designed by White Arkitekter, is based on principles of biophilic design – where proximity to nature, light and greenery are integrated into the architecture to strengthen both well-being and health.
Living Lab Lund takes a holistic approach to sustainability, addressing both people's needs and society's challenges. The work is driven by a focus on four main areas:
  • Social sustainability and well-being
  • Resource efficiency
  • Economic sustainability
  • Research, innovation and academia

– With the agreement in place, we are taking a decisive step towards realizing Living Lab Lund, HSB Skåne Future. Skanska is a strong and experienced partner who shares our ambition to put sustainability and innovation into practice. Together, we create the conditions for housing that combines research, community and a high quality of life, says Ann Irebo, CEO of HSB Skåne.
Living Lab Lund is an example of how collaboration between different actors can help meet complex societal challenges, from climate change to social sustainability, and create environments where people want to live and develop over time.
– We are proud of the trust from HSB Skåne to be part of building Living Lab Lund, HSB Skåne Future. Together we are creating an environment that is not only sustainable in itself, but also creates new knowledge that can change the housing and city districts of the future – not only for construction, but for how people live, meet and feel, says Petter Nyquist, District Manager, Skanska Sverige AB.
The design phase is now beginning, while work continues to connect research partners and innovators who want to be involved and contribute to the development of the housing of the future.
Occupancy is planned for 2028.
